Hack description

MOD DESCRIPTION:

This mod removes the background music in the USA v1.0 of Banjo-Tooie. Jingles such as the one that plays when a jiggy appears, when you collect a jiggy, collect a jinjo, collect all jinjos in a level, complete a new honeycomb, the music that plays when King Jingaling is revived, as well as the transformation music, have all been kept, in order to maintain the character of the game. Also, the beginning "da na na na na na" jingle of the wading boots has been kept in, however; after many hours of trying, the equivalent jingle could not be kept in for the Turbo Trainers (Running Shoes), Springy Step Shoes, the Claw Clamber Boots, or the Wonderwing. This is because Banjo-Tooie is not coded the same way as Banjo-Kazooie, and every attempt made to preserve these jingles has resulted in either a crash or a graphical glitch. For the time being, it's a necessary compromise and this as good of a no music mod as Banjo-Tooie can have. Perhaps this will change in the future.

CODES:

The readme file contains codes that can enhance the gameplay.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The first version of this mod was finished on August 23, 2023, but the release was delayed due to wanting to release it around the same time as the Banjo-Kazooie - No Music mod.

Another great 'no music' hack from Readmit!Uberdubie2024-06-28Version 1.0

And it works exactly as advertised! Much like Readmit's Banjo-Kazooie hack, I can confirm this one is tastefully done, removing background tracks while keeping the appropriate sound effects/jingles intact!

For many reasons I always grab up these types of hacks when I see them, and I believe it's appropriate as part of this review to explain why. I'm a multi-platform streamer. First and foremost this is avoid any music copyright issues, because that can be a serious issue a LOT more often than I'd like (especially since I'm multi-platform). Not having to worry at all about music copyright is always a plus in my book. Also this way, I can stream games with other music of my choice playing while keeping all sound effects in tact. In addition to streaming games, I also make clip compilations from my streams, and LOVE when I can keep in the live sound effects in said clips and edit my own soundtrack on top. All of these activities bring in some nice side income for me, so while it's mostly a hobby, I take this very seriously. And thus I sincerely appreciate anyone taking the time to make such hacks.

This hack does exactly what it was meant to do. Not understanding the purpose(s) of 'no music' hacks is not a valid reason to give a negative review.

Second verse, same as the firstShadowman6212024-06-27Version 1.0

It's as though the game itself is saying not to remove its music with the bugs this hack has. Too bad there's no way to turn off the music and avoid these bugs. Ya know, like just muting the damn game.
