Hack description

Made by talented ROM hacker: Puresabe, comes Rockman 4: Minus Infinity. One of the best ROM hacks that does what others only dream of achieving.

The levels, bosses, weapons and even the choice of music of the original Rockman 4 have been improved to a level that far exceeds an aesthetic standpoint - bosses have new attack patterns, weapons and moves (such as the distinguishable 'desperation' moves that speed up the music and make the bosses angrier and faster).

The levels have branching pathways and hidden bosses from past Mega Man/Rockman games that won't fail to put a smile on your face (such as Shadowman robbing the Egyptian temple, or Crashman hiding in the weapons artillery of Drillman's stage), the music is very well chosen from a variety of different games, and new enemies from earlier and later games in the franchise, not found in the original Rockman 4, make an already fantastic piece of programming a platforming masterpiece.

Give it a go, you won't be disappointed...

Had a great time playing this.Amingo2024-04-26Version 1.01

Awesome hack that adds many new elements and mechanics to the series. Feels like the next level of NES Mega man. I personally play with save states so the hardness doesn't bother me (plus you also can turn it down in the game settings). A full English translation would be great but isn't required to have tons of fun. Thanks and cheers!

The Best Mega Man 4 Rom HackSonicMaster5192024-02-17Version 1.01

I don't know where to start with this one.

This is actually the greatest Mega Man 4 rom hack ever made. I'd even go as far to say that it's the best Mega Man rom hack ever made. Forget any negative things you've heard about this one: Not only is it capable of unlocking the NES and its true potential, it's probably the best Mega Man experience you will EVER have. The challenges the hack presents can be difficult, but they're always fair and fun. The music is wonderful and even if none of the tracks are originally composed, they're remixed for Mega Man 4's standards and really shine. Every stage has something unique about it with cool mechanics. Even better, despite this rom hack being geared towards those who can read and understand Japanese, there's even an "Engrish" option if you so wish. It's not the greatest translation but it's good enough to convey ideas and tell you what's going on, which is delightful. I would be completely and utterly failing to describe how good this experience is, though, if I didn't cover the wonderful bosses.

The boss fights in this rom hack are one of a kind. They're all so unique and this hack makes even Toad Man a formidable foe. Without getting into spoilers, the Cossack/Wily bosses are freakin' amazing, too. It feels like every single boss is trying to be the absolute coolest it can be and push the NES to its limits... and it works so well. It's so GOOD! There's cool moves the bosses can use, and every single fight will test your mettle and push your skill to its absolute limits... and it does all of this while still being fair. Words alone cannot truly explain how wonderous every boss is.

In conclusion, this rom hack is incredibly unique. It's so freakin' good and you are doing yourself a huge disservice if you haven't played it. If you have not played this yet, play it as soon as you're done reading this review. This experience is truly unique.

Thank you, PureSabe.

Rockman 4: Minus Infinity - Is he worthy of praise or not, at one time?diablo6662021-12-06Version 1.01

Good afternoon. If you see revision 1.01, then I downloaded it from another source. It is strange that they did not update here. Although yes - there is only easy error correction, so there is NOTHING to update the principle... But not the point

Graphic arts. Most of them are original, the smaller ones are taken from other games about Megaman.

Enemies. The full AI was taken from the original games, and other original enemies were taken from other games about Megaman.

Music. Changed completely, almost no music from the original. It is written soundly, but not perfect.

The bosses. They are divided into basic, mini-bosses and secret ones.

  • At the main: 8 robomaster with original graphics, but brutal AI. In the first battle, 2 phases. But neither the first nor the second are simple. Looking for weakness is MANDATORY. And in the second round - bosses will immediately begin to attack as in the second phase.
  • Other main bosses: 2 original (that is, from the fourth part), but with a different AI (they are all the same tough), the rest are new. Cruel, utterly.
  • Mini bosses are divided into categories: Old from 4 (but a new AI), others from other games, or new ones. I met a new one - it was a bubble. Tricky thing. And all of them are not easy.
  • Secret. This is the most painful place. There you need to ideally endure time, not to be killed AT ALL, then meet SUPER FIRED SHADOW MAN. First, think about what he will do like a mini boss, BUT NO, HE WILL BE HARD. YOU WILL HATE IT AND SAVE FREQUENTLY! TO MAKE AN IDEAL, WHY TO DO SUCH A BOSS???? And also from the secret ones - Wave man and Clash man. They are much simpler, but they are simple, so there is nothing to talk about.

Abilities. Then the author tried. There are primary, there are secondary, and there is a secret. Usual abilities - which we receive from robomaster. They are very useful, interesting and unique. Even the "abundance" of the ball and hook - turned into an ability, because they cause damage. Funny, but true. And what about the secondary? You can get from some mini bosses, or during the passage of the game. Secret. Play special battle (spoiler)

General opinion. How do I feel about this creation?

I tried to talk vaguely about him, for this hack is ON LOVER. Music, abilities, alternative passages, secret things are interesting. Interactive things are also interesting. Bosses are addictive in both a bad and a good way. After passing: You can go through the game on an even tougher HARD MODE, learn new secrets that the game opens, go through the BOSS rush at a time.

There are a lot of things, BUT - this is a little more than the main romhacking. This is more of a "Homebrew" project. But be that as it may, I can advise, but this hack, like a hack, is not to my liking because of the heaviness. I can recommend it, BUT it will not suit everyone.

This hack goes "To Infinity........and Beyond!"Supergamerguy2021-11-28Version 1.01

I have a hard time describing just how well-made and creative this hack is. It may very well be the best NES romhack ever made, because it certainly is the best Mega Man hack ever. I don't exactly know how to describe the phenomenal aspects of this hack without spoiling its great surprises. All I can say is that this barely resembles Mega Man 4 anymore and lies closer to polished fan-game. It might as well be considered a fan-game at this point based on how much has changed and been added. There's so many new bosses, enemies, and level design elements both pulled from other Mega Man titles and made entirely new for this game. Don't even expect every level to be linear either (like a typical Mega Man game. There are several non-linear experiences in this title that are an absolutely joy to play. Add in a plethora of extremely useful and satisfying boss weapons and items, some banger music covers, and a lot of cool hidden secrets, and you have an almost perfect romhack. And the cherry on top is how you can customize the game's difficulty. There are a multitude of options to make the game as hard as nails or as forgiving as you want. On easy mode, the only part of the game that is genuinely brutal is the final boss. If you haven't played this hack and just lump it in with a bunch of other Mega Man romhacks, DON'T PASS IT UP! Give this one a shot, because I can guarantee it is well worth your time.

It's outstanding, but also too hardJuamnitruh2020-11-15Version 1.01

The hack is really awesome, but it's WAY TOO HARD. I think Easy should be normal, and normal should be called something else. Because the easy mode doesn't make the game easier, it makes the game more bearable. Or i just suck. Probably the latter.

One of the best NES hacks ever madeDANGER X2020-04-20Version 1.00

This hack is outstanding in every aspect, it's a prime example of how hacks should be. Everything got changed from the ground, we have:

  • music from other games (mostly NES games), of course some tracks are from earlier rockman games
  • all the levels have been rebuild + some more, making the game longer
  • bosses have new AI, and some boss fights are treated special, there are also a few secret bosses to fight with
  • great graphics
  • a special mode where you can select the difficulty of the game or play different challenges

What are you waiting for? Download this patch and give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

Comprehensive Overhaul...and Then Some!KevvyLava2019-11-05Version 1.00

This hack essentially takes the guts of Mega Man/Rockman 4, mixes in a LOT of elements from other Mega Man games, and pushes the NES past previously known limits. It's the NES equivalent of a Mega Man X game and honestly, I think it plays better. The level design is brilliant, the presentation is perfect, the effects used are impressive, and there are surprises to encounter on nearly every map. It's a complete masterpiece from start to finish.

THIShoggoe2016-02-02Version 1.00

This RomHack is literally without equal. There is no way to describe this hack other than not absolute garbage or lame aesthetic changes or difficulty central. It very may be the literal perfect RockMan 4 hack. Enjoy this for your own good.

Insanity.Zero Dozer2015-06-25Version 1.00

This here will be short. Or not.

Get Mega Man 4, and then turn it into a goddamn NEW GAME without changing its core. This is what Rockman 4: Minus Infinity (Or Mega Man 4: Negative Infinity, as it sounds better for an English title) is.

A Japanese hacker known as PureSabe just did the absurd feat of modifying Mega Man into unimaginable levels. Stages, weapons, boss behavior, it even added new things for you to mess with.

Not to mention numerous references to many other media in music, or Mega Man games when it comes to things for you to fight. All of the eight stages have some secret for you to find.

The game's difficulty is also ramped up, and you won't last unless you already know the true gist of playing a Mega Man game. It is as challenging as, or more challenging than Mega Man Unlimited, that fangame made by MegaPhilX.

Well, there is only one thing I would like to complain at. It is about you doing the entire game without losing a single life, and then getting rewarded with an absurdly brutal fight that you can only do once. I mean, what kind of reward is that? Is that supposed to make you overjoyed? It made me FURIOUS AS HELL! I shouldn't have to rely on damn save state scuuumming to win against that thing.

Oh, and there's the womb level section in the final stage, made by an hologram. I have a sort of phobia when it comes to womb levels.

Aside from that, this is a hack you definitely should play.

A MUST HAVE!Fluffyguy12015-03-18Version 1.00

So when I fist got the hack I was amazed by the amazing Music! All the music references are stunning. They have music from Adventure island to Fire Emblem to The Legendary Starfy. Now lets talk about the game play. I'm not the best Megaman player so when I first tried to play the game I FAILED. I was to bad. I went to "configuration" and change it to "easy" so now I can play it. You can also make it hard or customize lives and E-tanks or even health! So when I got started, went to Diveman's stage and the music is great. The level had great enemies, mini-bosses and tricks and secrets. The boss fight was very hard but quite fun. Lets just say the rest of the game is like that , EXCEPT Cossack3 its hard and boring. But it makes up in Wily3 . The level is like a game in its self. It's a HUGE maze where you do all the boss fight rematches, it is super fun but a very long level. Then after you beat the game you unlock another mode. It has an arena with ton of enemies and a secret boss. There is an audio player, level configuration, and even a speed running mode. So that is why Rockman4-MI is the greatest Megaman/Rockman hack ever!

Ok...here we goTuscany2015-01-12Version 1.00

This hack left me frustrated and mad and emotional and I'd occasionally break down into a pile of my own feelings. Basically just how a Mega Man game plays.

  • The music is way too good
  • The cameo appearances are sweet
  • This is basically Half Life 3

THE Hack to have?Plint Michigan2012-10-24-

New music? New gameplay mechanics? New features? Reasonable difficulty? JACKPOT!

That's right, this hack is amazing! Take what you know about Megaman 4 and throw it out the window! The graphics look pretty much the same, but everything else is brand-new! You get to fight enemies from all over the Megaman universe, from the original, all the way to number 8! New gameplay mechanics are abound, and puzzles from other Megaman games are plenty. This game will throw every trick in the book from a diagonal scrolling screen chase in Skull Man's stage, to having your game controls screwed around in Pharaoh Man's stage, to boiling temperatures in Dust Man's boiler room. This game has plenty of new tricks to keep you busy. The bosses all have interesting tricks up their sleeve, like Brightman's Burning Bulb move, where you must stand under Brightman's shadow or take massive damage. These bosses can be REALLY hard if you haven't beaten Drill Man first. Drill Man's weapon is really powerful and can deal more damage to an opponent than it can deal to you. Afterward, the only robot master you really need to worry about is pesky Matter Eater Lad Dust Man, who has a move where he sucks in the environment, and anything you shoot at him heals him! This game has many tricks up its sleeve, and will test your Megaman Metal true. However, I found the amount of mulligans your able to get to be a little much. I seem to gain more free-guys than I can lose at times. Rush Search can help in that matter by giving you a random item: either life, energy, a life tank, or a mulligan. This, surprisingly, makes the hack rather easy compared to most hacks, but at least it's not impossibly hard, either. The new music is... kind of meh. Most of it comes from obscure Japanese games, like the dungeon theme from RPG Maker Gameboy used as the Weapon Get theme. ...Now that I think of it, that's the second time I've heard that melody in a Megaman Hack: First being Rockman Unprecedented. Some of it's more recognizable like the Silence theme from the F-Zero series or the Pokemon Capture jingle, but for the most part it's not very recognizable. ...Now, that's not necessarily a bad thing, but to be honest, I think the early music is too cheerful and bouncy for my taste. It doesn't feel like it belongs in a Megaman hack. Pharaoh man and Dust Man have decent enough themes, But Dive Man, Skull Man, Toad Man and Drill Man have these slightly catchy, but bogus sugary melodies that don't fit well in Megaman. But when it all comes down to it, this is a purely amazing hack that you do not want to miss out on. Go on and give Minus Infinity a try. :D
