Hack description

Chrono Trigger Impossible is a hack of Chrono Trigger (U) rom making it more difficult to beat than before.

The point of making the hack was to make the game a lot more challenging than it originally was but still beatable so if you feel like giving Chrono Trigger another try, here is an additional patch you may want to use for it. :)

The hack has been properly tested and is totally playable from the beginning to the end, BUT there will be some silly issues here and there. A good example of an issue like this would be some bosses having lots of more HP than would be needed to actually make the fight more challenging. They simply take longer to beat that way (even if they can damage you a lot more than in the original version).

Notice:
You will have to rely on information RPGClassics has about Chrono Trigger unless you remember everything by heart; mainly on the walkthrough explaining, how to get all of the secret items you may not know about because this hack simply assumes you've found all of them (mails for absorbing elemental damage, best weapons and armour in late of the game etc.).

But give it a go and don't quit right away after possibly dying on those Hetakes or Blue Imps at the start of the game!

For advanced using, this hack only affects the enemy data and some character data related to starting out the game. Basically, it's possible to patch this hack over most other Chrono Trigger (U) hacks but it hasn't been tested with any so do it at your own risk.

Pros: I've had some fun with randomized hacks, but there's always a point where CT becomes too easy. And if it's too hard, then that just calls for more grinding. I loved Chrono Trigger Impossible because it is pretty hard, but not unbeatable, and the answer to beating Azala 'n stuff isn't to grind more, but to get a better-suited team. Cons: For me, the bad part is that Lavos Core is entirely luck-based. Early and mid-game are pretty tough. I think the late game would get boring for any modder once Mt. Woe is eliminated. The game already feels over. Couldn't beat Magus 2, couldn't beat him with sealed chest items, couldn't beat him no matter how much I tried, and I tried a lot. Can the optional characters please stay optional? Edit: I finally beat Magus 2. Did it without game genie! ???? What I've done is keep a save state at critical HP and when I'm bored I can keep killing him over and over.
