Really good, but has caveatsgaseoso2023-01-25Version 1.0a

I'll say first and foremost that this is a great translation, and it works like you would expect on real hardware. This means the game boots up with no issues and you can save your progress like you would on any retail game (from what I've seen so far).

However, there's a big problem if you decide to use real hardware as well: this patch was seemingly made targeting people who either play on emulators or those who hook up their consoles to modern TVs by using upscalers, because if you play this on a real PS1 hooked up to a CRT TV, the text is borderline illegible due to how tiny the font is.

The way a CRT draws each scanline will cause things like ellipses (...) to look like a single continuous line, or make certain characters look almost indistinguishable from each other (like lowercase O and E) because of how thin they are. Another problem is the spacing of each character, because characters like lowercase L and I (like in the word "Delinquent") just blend together, in which case you just have to assume you're reading specific words the right way. This means some extra effort is required to read the dialogue, and that's a bit of a shame considering 99% of the game requires you to read.

That said, this doesn't make the game unplayable, and you can absolutely enjoy it regardless. Just be advised that you're better off playing on an emulator than on a real console hooked to the kind of TVs it was designed for.

A quality translation that surpassed my expectationsHee-Ho2021-11-14Version 1.0a

This translation patch, not only surpassed my expectations but the quality of it it's so impressive that I will say it's better than official localization made for the PSP version, the script is amazing and it's clear that everything was done with so much care to detail, but not everything is perfect, there are some minor nitpicks I have like the name of the skill "Nova Sizer" but since it's a literal translation of the Japanese name I don't see really an issue, there are some bugs like some textures getting weird sometimes but it doesn't really affect the experience or cause any damage to the save and it's mostly because of the emulator I used, since the patch was made to be played in real hardware. I greatly reccomend this patch if you want to experience the greatness of Innocent Sin, play it, you won't regret it. To think this was made in two years by only two guys, amazing job.
