Translation description

Nothing much to say here. It's a small, quick, complete translation. Download the patch and discover this game's majesty. If that's even the right word. I think it is though.

Oldie but goodiegoldenband2019-06-19Version 1.01

Just played through The Spoony Bard's translation of Mitsume ga Tooru on my flash cart. Even though this patch is over 20 years old, I had no problems, no crashes, no issues of any kind. About the only thing I saw was a single stray character that didn't get cleared during the text crawl at the end of Stage 4, but for all I know that may have been a pre-existing issue in the original Famicom release.

As for the game itself, it's been hyped too much and is somewhat overrated, but is still worth playing. If you could duck or slide, Mitsume ga Tooru would have much better "flow". As it stands there are a lot of places where things come to a screeching halt for too long - enemies you can't easily kill and have to wait out, or long delays while something or other happens (at one point I had to stand around for about 30 seconds before a moving platform was accessible). I also think the spear is underutilized and takes too long to materialize, and losing all your weapon upgrades every time you die is a real buzzkill: you should just lose the one that's active.

Anyway, Mitsume ga Tooru is a nice-looking game with good music and presentation. Even though I didn't love it - I'm not sure that I even liked it very much - I'm grateful that this translation allowed me to experience it in English. And hey, you'll probably enjoy the game more than I did; it's short and, despite a few aggravating bottlenecks, it's easy to finish on your first attempt thanks to infinite continues.

Pretty Good!Maeson2015-07-05Version 1.01

As The Spoony Bard says, it's a good, simple, and small translation. It does the job, and does it well.

My only bad point is that the game calls the character Mitsume, when he's supposed to be Hosuke Sharaku. Maybe I'm missing the point, but I'm pretty sure it's his name.

But that's all, the rest of the text is flawless.

And by the way, the game KICKS SO MANY FLAVORS OF ASS. It's one of the best action-platformers on the system.

It plays good, it looks good, and it sounds AMAZING... Totally recommended!

Thank you for helping me to discover this great game.
