Translation description

This a complete English translation patch of the original Clock Tower on Super Famicom.

A note by the project leader (September 8, 2001),
"The Clock Tower project started in May of 1999 and sat on its ass for
quite a long time when I realized I couldn't do anything with it :P
Tsama joined the project in May 2001 as a hacker and translator, and
Disnesquick joined in either June or July (probably July) as an ASM
hacker. Clock Tower also stands out being the only project so far that
I've not had -one- undocumented patch-related bug surface during beta
testing :D"

A classiczoinknoise2021-10-04Version 1.01

Wow, this translation is now over 20 years old, and it's still an impressive effort. What is there to say? This was an early example of a classic Japan-only game getting the polished English translation it always deserved. It still holds up, though in the years since this translation was made, the quality standard has definitely risen a bit.

When played on a real SNES/SFC, this patch exhibits a tiny bit of graphical glitching around the text in the opening cutscenes. It's obviously no dealbreaker, but this sort of thing would never happen in a modern translation patch, with the extremely accurate emulators and tools available today. Hey, maybe they will come back and do a version 1.02? Never say never!
