How the duck can an unofficial translation be so exemplary that it seems to be official?! I have played the first two games in English and I have visited Disney World, so I know what I quack about! Capcom should hire or kidnap this talented group! Nothing was lost in translation. No grammatical errors. The patch contains new graphics that are superb and would also spruce up a mousepad. I beat Pete several times using this translation and the best emulator BSNES without encountering any bugs except for the actual bug enemies pestering our heroes on the second level. Buttons were pressed, but not depressed for Mickey feels that this translation is more joyous than a grilled cheese sandwich from the moon! Donald sound the trumpet to shock his rich uncle by letting him know that this translation is free of charge and Japanese! Kind Jonny-san even helped me translate this game to my native language! Hacktales, if you will. Recommended to animalic soloists, perhaps befriended, or enemies who consider digital waltz on platform to be the norm. The End | |||

Version 1.5 seems to be more or less the same patch from back in the ago, save for a some alleged bug fixes, some unspecified "various improvements," and a title logo which has been unnecessarily updated to resemble a 2005 GBA port rather than the 1995 original. Regarding bugs, I'm not sure if anyone else has watched the whole opening story sequence only to get frozen on the 'choose player' screen, but it would appear that a bug has, in fact, been introduced. The translation doesn't do anyone much good if it has to be skipped in order to play the game. The second flaw has been present since the creation of the patch, which is an additional, anachronistic opening screen we're forced to pass through in order to play the game. This screen is unskippable until it's made absolutely sure the player has seen who's responsible for the programming and translation. In case you forgot said screen within the span of one second, the patch reminds you again with an altered copyright screen. One has to question the motivation for and function of these additions. Hypothetically, if someone were to port this translation into their own patch, exactly what legal action could be taken by the "copyright" holders of the translation? These additions seem to serve no function other than self-indulgence and only diminish the experience for the player right on startup, forcing us to wait for an additional opening screen to become skippable. (Not even the creators of the game did that.) This game is quite playable in Japanese. If you're not a fan of bugs, unskippable opening screens, and seeing anachronistic, faux copyrights next to a hacker handle on startup, I'd recommend simply enjoying the 1995 original. | |||

I'm a big fan of this game and I love how it's still getting updates after all these years. This translation is perfect but I'm torn on the new title screen update In 1.5. It looks fantastic and is likely how the game would have been localized officially all those years ago when it was released. But a part of me prefers matching the style of the original Japanese title screen (as previous versions did) since it's more authentic to the only official version of the game that exists. It would be cool to have the option between the two. Also, I'd love to see the hacking credits moved to text at the bottom of the title screen rather than its own screen when it starts up since that just makes it longer to get the game started. I don't see many translations doing that anymore. Overall, amazing job, and I appreciate all the work that has gone into bringing it to where it is today. | |||

First time I had contact with this game was in 1998 or 2000 (I really cannot remember the right time). I have loved it at first sight... but it was in Japanese (a lot of tears drops have fallen down at that time from my eyes = I like to understand what I'm playing, I do not play for "instinct" - LOL). Several years later I could this discover this marvelous translation and finally I could play it correctly. Under these conditions, I give thanks and congrats to Jonny and to the other members of RPGONE for sharing it (hacking and translation) with us. Well, to those ones that do not know the game yet, a quick review. Magical Quest 3 – Starring Mickey and Donald is, in my opinion, one of the best Disney conversions to a console. It's got marvelous graphics, very well drawn characters, beautiful scenaries, a charmful story, an easy system of gameplay and so many other features that's only possible to confer'em playing it. But, what is it really good/awesome in Magical Quest 3? The Disney Quality inside it. Magical Quest 3 is almost a cartoon inside a videogame, with an involving action and with right dosage for adults and children (It's got action, but it's not violent – that's the reason for the what I play it with my son = 7 years old, who loves it). It's possible to play it in co-op mode (the best part of the game) through 7 levels, using Special custom clothes (Magician, woodcutter, Knight = Mickey / Aladdin, woodcutter, Knight-like = Donald)where one player helps the other, for instance: Donald rolling barrel on the water while Mickey hitchhikes on him through the river/sea or when Donald using the Aladdin's custom with the magical hand as a step for higher places or higher jumps. You might figure out the following concerning to the clothes: Knight = Attack and Defense; Woodcutter = Climbing the trees/columns or spinning attacks to enemies; Magician / Aladdin = Changing the things and enemies; If you have been looking for a funny and challenging game, don't waste your time anymore, have it right now with a friend and enjoy. You'll want to play it again and again and again, believe me. Of course and obviously, the translation and the color hack (Donald's nephews) for this game is extremely necessary for you to have an intense fun and the correct appreciation for it. Very well recommended. | |||
