Translation description

LaSalle Ishii's KAIZO Quest is what happens when Polinym tries to make an unlocalized version of Stardom Warriors and can't bring himself to fully commit.

This hack undoes most of the localization changes that Polinym made to Stardom Warriors. LaSalle Ishii, the Childs, Matsuo Ishii, Japanese town names, and other altered content have been restored. The dialogue is more accurate to the original Japanese.

The cost of this deconstruction is an increased difficulty. Much of the helpful text has been filled with lies. Nearly everything is more expensive. Clues for some of the game's "puzzle" elements have been obscured. More grinding is required to beat the game. The final boss has received its "true form". All water has been replaced with bloo, er, "Mementos Juice".

Polinym does not approve of this hack or any of its content. Many things have been uncensored, so play at your own risk.

This patch must be applied to Polinym's Stardom Warriors localization ROM

Difficulty settings should not be baked into translation patchesChatterine2023-05-06Version 1.0

I like the idea of the player being able to choose their "flavor" of the translation, between an accurate, literal translation and a full-fledged localization, like in Samurai Pizza Cat's translation on the NES. They are, after all, targeted at different audiences. I don't think that the game's difficulty level should be changed. If you want to change the gameplay that bad, please include it as a separate patch. And lastly but not least, this is NOT a harder patch to the game. It just increases the stats and prices of everything, so it's just grindier and more tedious than the original game.

They're not kidding with the "Kaizo" titleNess2022-06-09Version 1.0

Although the readme should make it clear, the above patch description forgot to mention the important fact that this is a KAIZO hack. It's not just a "de-localization", it changes items in stores, increases the prices by a LOT, increase encounter rate (you get encounters every 2 steps, sometimes every step even), decreases experience gained (sometimes you get 0 exp from fights) and it takes about 15 fights to level up to lvl 2 versus 4 in the original game and the Stardom Warrior localization.
