I watched a playthrough of this translation on twitch and played it a bit on my own. I think this hack is pretty good for livestreams or YouTube videos, where you don't want to translate the whole game on the fly.

I recommend this hack, but I think it is by no means perfect. There are grammatical errors and a few typos in this version (1.0). I hope the translator will fix these errors in the future.

There is an other German translation out there, but GlostU's hack is better in my opinion. Simply because this translation is playable without bugs. The other German translations have a lot of bugs that make the game unplayable. This hack was playable from start to finish without problems.

There are some quality of life changes, which I appreciate. Like having a run button as an option for example.

Should you play this hack?

~If you are fluent in English and you can easily understand the jokes thrown at you, then you should play the original or the MatrialBound hack of EarthBound.

~If your English is a bit shaky and you think you might not understand everything, then play this translation. Especially if there is a new version with less errors.

~If you are planing to stream this game, then you should definitely try it out.

There are a few things that I hate in this world but for the sake of brevity I'll keep it to one main issue - people who add spaces to German as if it was English. At first it mostly kept to students who took German up as a secondary language, but it soon crept up to native speakers and it's at the point where such butchery is present in official documents and newspapers. German is perhaps the only language that translators can mangle without a basic knowledge of and get away with.

From the screenshots alone I can see errors that are so basic it defies explanation. You could re-label this from German to Polish, French, or any other language for that matter and it would have the same degree of accuracy.

I can't vouch for the quality of the translation or the writing, but it will certainly be fun to practice German while playing Mother 2. :D Very glad it uses the Japanese terminology as its base...except for the main villain? I'm not sure why they went so far and yet purposefully changed Gyiyg (pronounced "geeg" in English, with a "hard G") to "Giygas" (pronounced "GEE-guhs" in English, again with a "hard G")... :/ I don't care for pointless name changes. It doesn't make the name any less alien looking (which is the entire point of the chosen spelling of "Gyiyg"), and there was no pun to translate... But otherwise, I appreciate the other reverts made. Especially the title screen. Hopefully there's no more censorship either. ...Even if it was sometimes so stupid that it was funny. I hope the Deutschlandics enjoy this and that Mother 1 and Mother 3 get translated as well.
