Translation description

Simply apply patch to Captain Tsubasa 3 Koutei no Chousen (The Kaiser's Challenge) for Super Nintendo. This is the Japanese version of the ROM since it was never officially released outside Japan.

This rom was not directly translated from Japanese, but from Spanish. There may be future updates to correct some minor text annoyances.

Reviews

Somewhat playable, despite all the flawsLusofonia2021-08-03Version 1.0

There are many issues with this patch. The main one is the translator's lack of proficiency with the English language, resulting in clunky wording and mistranslations from the original Spanish patch.

The second one is the poor terminology used here: many of the terms don't match the ones present in the other Tsubasa games and many made-up names come from the Spanish fan-translation this is based off. It seems like the author did not look up English translations of the CT games, so they ended up coming with new names. There are lots of weird things, but the mistranslations that raised my eyebrow highest were: Dribble is "Fake", Guts is now "Power" and Tackle is now "Sweep", among other stuff.

But even after all these errors, for my final words I am going to praise the author's effort into bringing one more Japanese game to us. Patches like this are great alternatives to having to learn a new language altogether; not everyone wants to learn something like Spanish or Japanese in order to experience a game. Even despite all the mistakes, this translation helps making the game playable, and I'm sure someone out there will like this patch.

As of the time of writing, the only alternatives to this patch are RepRep's abandoned project you can find lurking somewhere in Rom websites and Shinji's website, which contains a translation guide for this game.

The old one is better1HomoErectus12021-03-30Version 1.0

The old fan-translation of the "Captain Tsubasa III: Kōtei no Chōsen" is better than this one. The old one is not present on this site, but it is on many different rom-sites. Pianohombre's work looks like a raw patch for just making the game playable. Yes, my "review" is in Engrish (as is the translation of pianohombre), sorry for that, English is not my native language.

P. S. I do not understand why not give proper names to the football clubs. I mean, normal real ones, not strange anglicisation of hispanisation of japanisation.

Needs lots, LOTS of polishing.lolzilla2021-03-27Version 1.0

I only played a couple of matches but it's clear that this version 1.0 needs lots of work. There are lots of phrases that doesn't make any sense, phrases/words that could be translated better and leftovers from the Spanish translations untranslated. It's playable though.
