Database match: Fire Emblem - Ankoku Ryuu to Hikari no Tsurugi (Japan)Translation description
This is a translation of Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragons and the Blade of Light built from scratch by Polinym, not derived from any of the previous translations. This translation was built with the goal of being as faithful to the original Japanese as possible, using the official NoA terminology (used in the Nintendo DS English port and temporary Switch "translation") where accurate and appropriate.Screenshots

Let me start by saying I really respect Polinym's translation work, both on Fire Emblem and Dragon Quest. Their translation patch of the original Famicom Dragon Quest is one of my personal favorite rom hacks. But putting your ranting of "hating anime trash games" in a hack is behavior that I feel like we should have been past by the 90s. You're allowed to hate on whatever games you like, but keep it out of your translations, please. Leave that to the readme file or something, but not in a translation hack, especially one claiming to be more faithful than ones before it. While 99.9% of this hack may be accurate and okay with me, I actually made an account on here just to recommend against it for the sole reason of, this behavior is simply unacceptable for fan translation. Side note, "Mars" is actually not as accurate to the Japanese as one might think, and even Nintendo of Japan have gone with "Marth". I'm fine with "Doga", "Sheeda", and "Durhua", but "Mars" is just a step too far, and doesn't even really line up with creator intent anymore, but rather different for the sake of it. At the end of the day, though, Polinym is still a great translator. I just wish they would leave their opinions out of their hacks, even if I do agree with them.
| Pretty good translation, with one major flaw | SirBlackMage | 2023-09-13 | Version 1.4 |
Overall good and faithful patch, barring some repeated typos (fued instead of feud) and some bugs like the arena spitting out garbage text if a fight ends by timeout. The only BIG negative is the following, found in a house in chapter 24: https://i.imgur.com/mFaD1iw.png I don't like modern Fire Emblem either. But for a translation patch claiming to be as accurate to the source material as possible, this sort of inclusion is completely unacceptable. Please leave your inane ranting out of your translations. Go make a spoof hack if you want to inject your personal opinions into the game.
| The text looks and reads wonderfully | Lonkelle (Delta Emulator) | 2022-04-03 | Version 1.1 |
After playing a bit of this translation I would almost certainly choose it over the alternative but this one doesn't have an addendum patch for "USA Localized Names" and it's too weird Marth being called Mars for me. Other than the name(s) - this is a beautiful translation hack.
| Amazing Effort | Jekuma | 2021-07-01 | Version 1.0 |
From what I have glanced at reading this translation, it reads REALLY well. Hopefully people could check it out and doesn't get too overshadowed by the localization that came out earlier this year and I believe is no longer being sold :
