Translation description

The Japanese ROM is better than the US/EU version with more and cuter scene pics.

This patch translates all Japanese words in the game options and ending scene except those staff names.

Game mode "normal/hard/hyper/tricky/wild(lunatic)" are translated as "easy/normal/hard/hyper/insane" due to final score screen number of displayed character constraint.

The ending cutscene has me scratching my head...tsubasaplayer162023-02-05Version 1.2

///Ending cutscene spoilers inbound (if you really do care somehow)///

The Japanese version, IMO, is superior to the international releases because of the cutscenes that weren't present in the international versions and seeing Raz and Thi is like eye candy for anime-aesthetic junkies like I am. To see this fan translation for the Japanese version has me interested, but as I played through the game and got to ending cutscene...it has me scratching my head. "Thi takes off toward sky. Space drifting!", "Entered the Sphere, Thi frees all captured consciousness", and "The Sphere flies toward space in the light of consciousness" are notable examples that makes it feel incomplete in detail (and the 1st one sounds like cheesy broken English in an amusing way). The rest is acceptable in a way. However, I can't help but suspect that it has something to do with the translated text that's occupying the smaller space that was in the original Japanese dialogue and the ROM hacker couldn't expand it, and thus had to make sacrifices as a result, but that's an assumption and not fact, so I could be wrong. However, take this opinion with a grain of salt because my Japanese is very very limited and I got my translation comparisons from The Cutting Room Floor and the captions from this YouTube longplay here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ji21x8nMrPM.

I'm putting this as recommended because it kinda does get the original Japanese dialogue, but I'd put this fan translation in a similar tier as like those limited English localizations from the mid/late-80s. It needs some proofreading and dialogue expansion, I feel. If there was a "Mixed" option for if I would recommend this, this would be it, but it's leaning towards "Yes" because the ending cutscene is not entirely wrong, it's just that the grammar and lost detail can be a bit jarring to some people. But as I said, take it with a grain of salt, and you can judge it for yourself. I'd much prefer this over the international releases anyway because of what's omitted from them.
