Translation description

This is a retranslation of the main script of Puyo Puyo Fever for the GBA. The patch currently only supports the Japanese version, and specifically changes the English cutscene text to be more faithful to the original Japanese script.

This also changes the title cards for most characters, in order to use the more modern localizations of their names, such as Raffina instead of Raffine!

Begone, TyposEvilJagaGenius2023-04-04Version 1.0

I saw Tasos500's hacking notes on Puyo Fever show up a while ago and was tempted to try editing the script to clean up obvious typos. Instead, this retranslation shows up a few days later.

Not everything has been edited here. The intro sequence and character select still has the old names for the characters, and the opening crawls for each singleplayer course are unchanged, I assume Tasos hasn't made tools to edit those yet. That's fine, but it did leave an uncertain first impression on what's otherwise a great new script.

What is edited are the cutscenes before each singleplayer Puyo match. Typos are gone, character names are consistent, and the whole thing just reads better. The only thing I would change is the Japanese attack calls - I like the English voice work, but I'm probably in the minority with that. If it bothers me too much I can try changing it myself with Sappy.

I hope Tasos can continue and figure out how to change the last bits of text in the game, but even as it is this is a great upgrade to Puyo Fever. Check it out!
