Translation description

This is an English translation of Assault Suits Valken for the Super Nintendo.

And here it is, the unedited, uncensored Japanese version of Cybernator! There are still some random text display issues, and you can't change Jake's name, but other than that it's fully playable!

Reviews

Very coolDeepDish2021-01-19Version 1.00

The retranslation is solid and having character portraits next to the dialogue is visually appealing. Aeon Genesis is usually very consistent with high quality translations so I have no issues with recommending this if you would like a better experience in terms of story.

Better than the official localizationSupergamerguy2020-08-01Version 1.00

This is an amazing hidden gem for the SNES that was impeded by story elements in its official localization in the 90's: Cybernator. Though some pauses in gameplay are still present as in the original game, this hack aims to relocalize the missing elements from the Japanese version, and it accomplishes that goal with flying mechs—I mean colors.

The text has been faithfully translated from its original form and now makes the game feel more tense with light cursing and shouts of exclamation, which are extenuated by the return of the beautiful character portraits. I don't know why they aren't present in the official localization, but the returning facial expressions really make the player feel for the characters and their plight.

Overall, a very solid effort by the hacking team. This is the best way to play this game in modern day. Another reviewer mentioned game breaking bugs, but I didn't encounter a single one in my playthrough; I was able to beat the entire game twice with no issue (both bad ending and good ending). Don't let the threat of bugs stop you from playing this amazing upgrade to an astoundingly fun combat game.

Solid effort, but excessively glitchyPalazzo2015-10-17Version 1.00

The translated script is very well-written (barring some unfortunate typos late in the game), and certainly reads easier than the game's original English script, but unfortunately the patch is very glitchy, to the point that it severely impedes play. The game frequently crashes in the final stages (typically during the bosses of the final stages), and in one segment in the penultimate level, a corridor containing an item is blocked off with garbage tiles, forcing the player to reset if they happen to enter the corridor from below.
