Heya, you can call me Ugly Joe. I use ROM hacking mostly as an excuse to play Japanese NES games and fiddle with 6502 assembly code. This usually involves dumping scripts from games and finding ways of fitting the translated text back into the ROM (which, of course, never happens because no one bothers to translate games anymore now that all of Square’s RPGs have been done).

The wonderful thing about ROM hacking and learning so much about the NES hardware is that it is so completely and utterly useless. I can think of no real reason to bother doing this, and yet I, and others, bother to do it. Kinda funny, really.
