Utility description

Game Genie Guy! by Kyle

This is a small Windows utility for applying Game Genie codes to roms. This saves you the trouble of having to enter them each time the game is played.

Usage:

1. Click the Browse button and select an unzipped Game Boy/Game Gear/Genesis/NES/SNES rom
- The system dropdown should populate based on the file extension
- The checksum box will also be enabled for non-NES games

2. Enter the desired codes, one per line. Multiple codes can be combined with +

3. Click Patch when all codes have been entered

4. Open the created 'File GG.rom' in an emulator to test

uCON64 is used for checksum correction. This is required if you are using flash carts. Most emulators are not bothered by it. I recommend the MinGW version because it has no dependencies.

Download ucon64-2.0.0-win32-mingw-bin.zip and extract ucon64.exe to same folder as GGGuy.exe:

A great patcherKorokun2021-09-14Version 1.0

I use this when modifying prepatched ROMs. Esp those who've been hacked / spite change etc.

  • Open up GGGuy, find codes, patch them etc. Make sure you have both cygwin1 and cyggcc_s-1 dll(s) in the same folder then patch. No need to make an IPS of them.
  • Find game you want to patch it with. The match CRC does not matter.
  • PATCH MAIN GAME FIRST BEFORE ADDING HACK. (Not that it matters but still you want to be safe then sorry.)
  • PATCH .IPS ROMHACK to PATCHED game. It will add a "GG" at the end plus (patched) to it's name.
  • For multi codes just add a "+" without quotations to them, and for singles, paste as is.
  • Try to refrain from 6 digit codes vs. 8. If using 6, test first to see if game will load and/or crash.
  • ???
  • Profit.

But like the below poster said, if you'll pulling codes from GameHacking and they're RAW e.g. ABCD:EF; a 6 digit GG code will more then likely crash a game vs. an 8 digit code.

That's it!

Note: I pull all my gamegeine and hacking related codes from GameHacking.org.

Happy gaming!

Troublesome but worksNES Universe2021-06-02Version 1.0

Patches GameGenie Codes Excellently without fail, easy to use and highly functional.

Noticed one problem however when applying Hex Codes that cannot work as a traditional Game Genie code. I tried to apply code 00E7:00 but it becomes changed to the GameGenie Workaround AETAYA. The problem there is 00E7:00 cannot be written in GG format which changes it to 80E7:00.

This caused severe corruption in my ROM, I expect a level modifier, not a sprite loading corruption.

In applying GG codes it works admirably but when applying Hex Codes it substitutes with GG which is highly problematic.

Naturally, I don't know much about GG codes but I do know enough about them to disallow certain ROM locations to be changed.

If you could find a workaround or patch to fix the inconsistency there it would be much appreciated.

Loving this app!TheHandsomeDan2018-01-17Version 1.0

Having recently acquired several reasons to WANT code patched rooms, this has been a godsend. I can go back and get my nostalgia fix for the classic games I played when I was younger, much faster now, and without so much of the frustration that can come with playing older generation games.

Stick with game genie codes to be the safest, some GameShark codes work (as long as they're room patches, and not ram). If you're looking for a slew of them, there's always gamehacking.org, or you could grab a HUGE set of codes all at once via Retroarch. Either way, there is no shortage of great codes to enjoy your favorite games of yesteryear.

I really love this utility. It is so simple to add codes permanently using it. I have added some really cool codes to my favorite games with this. It is really easy to use and understand. Simply start the utility, load the rom and add the codes you want to be permanently. Done! You can use this to add certain codes for your hack or for your old favorite games!

I recommend this for sure. I have never ran into any type of issue with this utility at all anytime I have used it.
