Utility description

This tool let's you quickly and easily adjust the colors of character's battle sprites in FFIV.

What makes this different from a standard SNES sprite editor? Let's say you want to change Dark Knight Cecil's armor color: you just click on the "DK Cecil" button at the top of the editor, click on the "Armor" tab on the left, then play with the color sliders. All 5 of the palette colors that make up Cecil's armor will be adjusted simultaneously while maintaining their relative Brightness and Saturation.

If your mod is using customized graphics, you can easily create your own groupings of palette colors. And this editor includes a simple graphics editor, in case you want to modify character graphics.

It can be used locally by opening the .html file in the downloaded zip folder, or online here:
https://elforko.github.io/FFIV-Char-Battle-Sprite-Editor/

Note that this is only for character battle sprites, it does NOT handle enemy sprites, or character overworld sprites.

Reviews

Truly excellent toolxj4cks2024-03-07Version b0.0

Do you want to see Kain in red armor, or Rosa with dark blue hair? Look no further, this tool is a quick and extremely effective way to test out new color palettes for the FF4 cast in battle!

The online app works great, and can easily package changes right back into your rom. The current interface (version b0.0) is a tad bit confusing at first, but the rewards for learning it are huge.

Highly recommended!
