Hack description

This hack's purpose is to balance the game's difficulty, fix bugs and also improve its flow. Enemies no longer take away most of your life with their attacks at the start of the game, and stat increases are re-balanced so you're not overpowered by the end of the game.

Man, as a kid I could never leave the forest section because I kept dying to everything. Now I can finally finish the game. Thanks!

A better way to playdannyphantom2023-06-04Version 1.1

Those wolves haunted me for years; first, as a kid and later on in life when replaying it. Why was it so hard! Thanks for your work.

NO exp farmingIndianaRoy2023-05-12Version 1.1

Great hack,

The difficulty is way more balanced - unless you like to farm for exp by killing one enemy, running for health, and repeat. And it makes the final battle still somewhat challenging.

The one thing that could make it better is an optional patch that lacks the flying restore, even if by being able to fly everywhere you no longer have to worry about the slow walking

I understand the logic, but I think this wasn't how to do itSaxdude262023-03-23Version 1.1

Is it beneficial for adjusting the difficulty curve? Yes. Is it essential to enjoy the game? ... I'd argue no.

I might not be the target audience, but I think this hack doesn't change enough to really justify playing this way over leaving the game unchanged. The biggest flaws in the first game's mechanics are in attack spamming leaving you open to damage, and "dying to wolves" becomes fairly insignificant once Goku reaches level 5. Heck, avoiding dying to wolves can be done by leaving East District 439, coming back to respawn the crabs, and leveling against them before continuing.

An hack that remove all the frustration of the originalPier2021-05-13Version 1.1

I was interested about the "Legacy of Goku" trilogy on the GBA. However, if I managed to finish Legacy of Goku 2 and Buu's Fury, I give up at the first village on the first game because of the insane difficulty and very slow flight mechanic.

This hack remove these 2 majors problems:

  • Firstly by making the enemies weaker. At the beginning of the game, you can now kill the wolves in 1 or 2 hits and they removes something like 10% of your health when they hit you (instead of you need 4-5 hits to kill them and they need the same to kill you). You doesn't need a lot of time grinding anymore to face more dangerous foes like the T-Rex or the pterodactyl.
  • Secondly by giving you at the beginning 50 fly points (instead of less than 10 on the original) and now you recover fly points automatically (instead of searching some spheres that takes 10 years to respawn when you use it). Because you move faster when flying than walking and you need to frequently fly to collect an key item to complete an quest, this change make the game more fluid as you doesn't need anymore to search sphere every 30 seconds at the speed of a snail.

The only problem I saw is that the fly regeneration is maybe too overpowered because the fly points regenerate even when you fly if you doesn't move, making you virtually invincible because the enemies doesn't attack you when you flight. However, this is not really a big deal because you can't attack enemies as well when you flight and with the stats balancing, you clearly doesn't need to abuse this mechanic to finish the game.

In conclusion, even if this hack doesn't make the game better than its sequels, this is Cleary an huge improvement that allow me to complete the trilogy.
